"a first growth of the bordeaux region, chateau mouton rothschild is one of the greatest chateaux in the world.
the chateau owns 80 hectares of the vines in pauillac in medoc, planted with noble grape varieties of the bordelais.
the chateau became famous thanks to baron philippe de rothschild (1902 " 1988) who also made of it a place dedicated to art and beauty.
nowadays, the chateau belongs to his daughter, baroness philippine de rothschild.
every year since 1945, a famous artist is commissioned to create at liberty an original work to illustrate the label.
the illustration of the vintage 2009 was entrusted to an english sculptor of the indian origin, anish kapoor,
born in 1954, one of the world's top contemporary art figures.
his work reflects and transcends the world diversity through a constant invention of new experiences,
combining serenity and violence, abstraction and color, mysticism and sensuality.
his work realized for mouton is at a time austere and flamboyant, a symbol of a fertile nature,
a fruit of an intense fusion of light and matter. "
