translation: a classified first growth from the bordeaux region, chateau mouton rothschild is one of the worlds greatest wines. it comprises 203 acres of vineyards at pauillac in the medoc, planted to the noble bordelais varietals. led to the top by the baron philippe de rothschild (1902-1988), who also made of it a place of art and beauty, the estate today belongs to his daughter, the baroness philippine de rothschild. each year, since 1945, a famous artist has created an original masterpiece as the mouton label, conceived with complete artistic freedom.
the 2005 vintage has a friend in the world of contemporary art, the italian sculptor giuseppe penone (born in 1947), known for incorporating elegance into his work.
penone's art frequently associates culture and nature, the human and the vegetable. his drawing for mouton 2005 evoked the artful skill of winemaking by portraying living expansion of the leaves of the vine along with the fingers of the drinker. ... many happy returns on a glass of mouton!
