this dry white wine is a traditional product of chateau fonreaud in listrac-medoc. the 2 hectare site at the high point of medoc is a blend of
60%sauvignon, 25%semillon, 15%muscadelle.
the grapes are cultivated by hand, with many passages, pressing to be vinified and aged in barrels on the fine lees until ready for bottling. this style of vinification brings the complexity of the 3 grape varieties, particularly their soil variation. the freshness of the muscadelle softens the exuberance of the sauvignon and the semillon brings the roundness. if there is ever a time for white wine in listrac, this is not by chance... appreciate this wine, served at 48 to 53 degrees, also good as an aperitif as well as with fish or shellfish.
